Kansas City, MO (December 10, 2023) – Emergency crews were dispatched to provide assistance at the scene of a motor vehicle accident that occurred in Clay County on Friday morning and ended in injuries. The accident was reported to officials at around 6:35 a.m. on December 8.
According to reports provided by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2005 Toyota Sienna was traveling on Interstate 435 when it became involved in a collision on the northbound side of the roadway. As a result, the vehicle went off the road near mile marker 54.6 and collided with a cable barrier. The vehicle then reentered the roadway and overturned, coming to rest on its roof.
Five people were injured as a result of the crash. Emergency medical services responded to the scene to care for the victims. The injured parties were identified as 20-year-old Keybert Gonzales Romero, 23-year-old Carlos Torres, 24-year-old Eddy Maldonado Pelico, 27-year-old Santiago Ruiz, and 42-year-old Fransico Evenor Gonzales, all of Raytown, Missouri.
Maldonado Pelico refused further treatment. However, the other four victims were transported to North Kansas City Hospital for further treatment. The accident is currently under investigation by local law enforcement.
