Just after 8:15 p.m., troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol were called to the scene of a cross on Missouri State Route 58.
Reports from authorities show that in 2009 Nissan Murano crossed over the centerline of the roadway and crashed head-on into a 2011 Toyota Sienna. The Nissan then continued forward and struck a 1997 Chevrolet S 10 pickup truck head-on just west of Southwest 1821 Road.
All three vehicles were totaled in the accident. Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the accident and blocked the road.
Three people were hurt as a result of the accident. EMS provided care to 30-year-old Robert O’Malley, 32-year-old Jordan Linville Gafford, and 33-year-old David Gafford. David Gafford was then transported by ambulance to Research Medical Center. O’Malley was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center.
At this time, the incident is being investigated.
Our thoughts are with Jordan Linville Gafford, David Gafford, and Robert O’Malley at this time.
Car Accidents in Missouri
Car accidents are one of the primary causes of accidental injuries in Missouri, resulting in serious injuries in many cases. Common injuries sustained in car accidents include bone fractures, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries.
In car accidents, the ribs, pelvis, and legs are commonly broken bones. These injuries can be incredibly painful, forcing victims to have to wear casts for several months. In severe cases, victims may have to go through surgery and go through physical therapy.
Spinal cord injuries are also common in car accidents, resulting from the force of the impact damaging the spinal cord. These injuries can lead to paralysis and various other serious health complications. Unfortunately, many people are left permanently disabled as a result of spinal cord injuries.
Traumatic brain injuries are another frequent outcome of car accidents. These serious injuries can result in cognitive impairments, emotional disorders, and other significant health issues.
Regrettably, a significant number of individuals in Missouri require hospitalization due to these and other severe injuries sustained in vehicle collisions. Often, these crashes are a result of drivers engaging in negligent behavior while operating their vehicles. If you are injured in a traffic collision, seeking the assistance of a car accident lawyer in Missouri can help you pursue legal action against the responsible driver.
