Fatal Auto Accidents in Kansas
Fatal accidents in Kansas take the lives of countless people annually. Far too often, these accidents have an overwhelming impact on families. In many cases, families are deprived of companionship, services, and a source of income that they have depended on. After experiencing the loss of a loved one, families have the ability to file a wrongful death claim. A wrongful death claim is designed to provide financial relief for various damages that families face during this difficult time.
These damages from the wrongful death lawsuit can be pursued by one or more surviving family members of the deceased. The eligible parties with the legal ability to file a wrongful death claim in Kansas follow a specific order: the surviving spouse of the dissident, surviving parent(s), surviving children, or the descendants of the children. If none of these individuals survives, a surviving sibling or their descendants may file, or the representative will be appointed by the court to initiate the claim.
It is important to take legal action quickly after experiencing the loss of a loved one. Waiting can prevent you from having the evidence needed to prove your case. Working with a Lawrence wrongful death lawyer can help to ensure that you are better positioned to protect your rights and get justice.
