Olathe, KS – Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Lone Elm Rd near 159th St

Olathe, KS (October 6, 2023) – A bicyclist died as a result of a car accident that occurred on Thursday morning in Olathe.

The police and firefighters were called to the scene at around 5:45 a.m. on October 5.

According to reports from the Olathe Police Department, a 28-year-old man was riding a bicycle in the vicinity of Lone Elm Road and 159th Street during the morning hours when he was struck by an SUV.

The incident prompted authorities to close down the area, which is located just south of Interstate 35.

The bicyclist was fatally injured and pronounced deceased on-site by responding officers.

The driver of the SUV, a 64-year-old woman, remained at the scene and spoke with law enforcement.

At this time, the incident is being investigated.
