Fatal Car Accidents in Missouri

Fatal collisions take the lives of hundreds of victims each month in Missouri. Although many motorists operate their vehicles with care and consideration for others, we continue to see innocent people lose their lives as a result of drivers who fail to do so. Some of the leading factors in the fatal collisions across our state include:

  • Ignoring traffic signals and signs
  • Distracted driving
  • Drunk driving
  • Failure to yield at crosswalks
  • Speeding
  • Poor visibility conditions

Regrettably, these and other negligent actions continue to take the lives of innocent people in our state year after year. If your loved one has died due to a fatal collision, your family has the ability to pursue a wrongful death claim against the responsible party. Seeking representation from a Kansas City wrongful death lawyer can greatly improve your chances of getting justice.

Missouri's pure comparative negligence statute enables compensation even when the injured party bears a substantial share of the blame, provided other parties also share responsibility. However, the amount of compensation that you are able to recover will be reduced to reflect the amount of fault that was shared by your loved one for the accident. This makes it critically important for you to seek legal guidance early on to ensure you have the strongest evidence to prove that the defendant was at fault for the accident.

Losing a loved one in an auto accident is a devastating experience, and it can be even more difficult to cope with if the accident was caused by someone else's negligence.
