Kansas City, MO – Four Hurt in Major Crash on I-29 at MM 10.4

Kansas City, MO (August 31, 2024) – A major motor vehicle accident reported on Friday left several people injured. The accident was reported to officials in Platte County at around 5:00 p.m. on August 29.

According to reports provided by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2018 International PB105 bus was traveling northbound on Interstate 29 during the evening hours. As the vehicle proceeded through the area near mile marker 10.4, it crashed into the rear of a 2018 Nissan Versa and a Volkswagen Tiguan. The impact of the collision caused the Volkswagen to collide with a Toyota RAV4. All of the vehicles were severely damaged in the accident and had to be towed from the scene. Two 13-year-old males, 26-year-old Roxana Perez Lara, and 42-year-old Kelly McGlothlin, were all treated for injuries while at the scene. The two teens were subsequently transported to Children’s Mercy Hospital for emergency care. The two adult victims were transported to North Kansas City Hospital. At this time, the circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated.

We hope both of the teenagers, Roxana Perez Lara and Kelly McGlothlin, recover from their injuries.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Vehicle collisions occur far too frequently in the United States. Here in Missouri, car accidents result in tens of thousands of injuries each year. Many of these accidents leave people with serious injuries, such as broken bones, head trauma, and other conditions that continue to affect their lives long after the crash.

Dealing with the aftermath of a vehicle collision can be incredibly challenging. Many victims face significant financial burdens, which make coping with the pain and suffering from their injuries even more difficult. Unfortunately, reckless and negligent drivers often cause these accidents. Some of the leading factors in automobile accidents across Missouri include:

  • Impaired Driving: Operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs impairs judgment and reaction times, leading to dangerous situations on the road.
  • Mechanical Failures: Issues like brake failures, tire blowouts, or steering problems can cause drivers to lose control of their vehicles.
  • Tailgating: Following another vehicle too closely reduces the time available to react, increasing the likelihood of rear-end collisions.
  • Distracted Driving: Activities such as texting, eating, or adjusting the radio distract the driver from the road, leading to accidents.
  • Speeding: Driving above the speed limit decreases the driver’s ability to respond to sudden changes in traffic conditions, resulting in more severe crashes.
  • Aggressive Driving: Behaviors such as weaving through traffic, road rage, and cutting off other drivers can cause serious accidents.

If you have been injured due to another driver’s negligent actions, you may have legal options to help you move forward. It is crucial to seek guidance from a Kansas City car accident lawyer as soon as possible. You may be entitled to financial compensation for the damages and losses you are facing during this difficult time.
