Car Accidents in Missouri

Every year in Missouri, thousands of drivers and passengers face injuries from car accidents across the state. While accidents can occur anywhere, a significant portion of them happen at busy intersections.

Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reveals that about 36% of traffic accidents in the United States happen at intersections. Missouri reflects this pattern, with many people getting hurt due to the actions of careless drivers. Some main reasons for car wrecks in Missouri include:

  • Speeding: Drivers rushing through intersections raise the risk of accidents. Speeding not only reduces reaction time but also increases the force of impact in case of a collision.
  • Turning Vehicles: Accidents often occur when a driver makes a turn at an intersection, either by failing to yield the right of way or by making wide or fast turns. Proper signaling and adherence to traffic rules are crucial in preventing such incidents.
  • Poor Visibility: Certain intersections have limited visibility due to obstacles. Issues like faulty traffic control devices and inadequate lighting can also lead to poor visibility, making it challenging for drivers to spot other vehicles or pedestrians. Enhancing visibility through proper maintenance and lighting upgrades is crucial for ensuring safety on the roads.
