Higginsville, MO (March 3, 2024) – The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed that 71-year-old Gary Starke of Higginsville, Missouri, died in a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Friday evening, March 1. Troopers were called to the scene of the accident at approximately 4:15 p.m.
Reports provided by authorities indicate that a collision involving a 2014 Ford Focus, a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu, and a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu occurred on Michigan 13 in the area near Jennings Road. The incident prompted officials across Lafayette County to respond and close off the roadway. All three vehicles were totaled in the collision and had to be towed from the scene. Two people involved in the crash were transported to Centerpoint Medical Center for emergency treatment of injuries. The victims were identified as 25-year-old Brett Fleener and 40-year-old William Jennings, both of Higginsville, Missouri. One victim, identified as Starke, passed away from his injuries while at the scene. Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
