Kearney, MO (October 11, 2024) - A woman was rushed to a Kansas City hospital after suffering critical injuries in a two-vehicle crash west of Kearney.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 3:35 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, near the intersection of State Route 92 and Plattsburg Road. Emergency responders were called to the scene after receiving reports of the accident.
Authorities say 41-year-old Cody D. Martin of Raytown was driving a 2005 Ford F150 northbound on Plattsburg Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign. As a result, his truck collided with a 2020 Buick Encore traveling eastbound, driven by 51-year-old Claudia M. Grimes from Kansas City.
Grimes sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to North Kansas City Hospital. Another individual involved in the accident, who suffered minor injuries, declined medical treatment at the scene. Both drivers were reported to be wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. No further details have been provided by authorities.
We hope Claudia M. Grimes recovers quickly from her injuries.
